Skipton Building Society HML - Skipton

A traditionally procured 12000m2 office accommodation for Skipton Building Society's subsidiary HML comprising open plan floor plates with minimal cellularisation.

The accommodation is split in to Building 1 and building 2 over 2 and 3 floors respectively with a common central core atrium, facilities and meeting rooms which achieved a BREEAM 'Very good' rating with a score of 55.3%.

Airedale Mechanical & Electrical Ltd performed the design coordination, contractor Design Portions, installation, project management and delivery of all mechanical and electrical services through to handover.

In addition to the traditional Mechanical & Electrical services many sustainable and green elements were delivered including Biomass Boiler, Gas fired absorption chillers with heat rejection, Solar Hot Water and Heat recuperators working together to deliver the primary heat source. Rainwater harvesting tank providing

40,000 litres of grey water storage. Extensive Solar shading incorporating motorised Photovoltaic cells delivering 11kWp of energy.

The mechanical services installation further included Gas fired secondary modular boilers, a full warm air displacement ventilation system, under floor heating, DX cooling to cellular spaces and multi service chilled beams incorporating the LG7 compliant lighting scheme to the open plan offices, full automated Building management system. Domestic water services with primary heat from the sustainable or recovered heat sources.

The electrical services further included 2 500kVA fully rated standby generators and duty standby 200kVA static UPS units to support the critical loads. Delivery of distributed power throughout and LG7 lighting scheme via the chilled beams or modular luminaires as appropriate. A Class E CAT 6 structured cabling system, integrated electronic access control and intruder diction systems with distribution internal and external CCTV. The analogue addressable fire alarm system designed and installed to meet L1, Satellite and terrestrial TV installations.
